Unfortunately, just after I sent around details of this years arrangements, we were advised by TPS that they were withdrawing the Sports Hall for 6 out of our scheduled 11 dates, resulting in our losing all of January and most of March. However after a few frantic weeks exploring possibilities with Bedale’s, Bohunt, TPS, Taro, and Ditcham, we are pleased to be able to confirm that we have been able to secure Churcher’s Sports Hall on Friday evening, albeit starting a little later at the beginning of February, but providing us with 8 weeks.

The final arrangements are as follows:-

Fridays
Churcher’s Sports Hall
U7s 6.30pm to 7.30pm, starting from Friday 3 February and running through to 30 March – excluding 17 February as its half term
All Girls 7.30pm to 9.00pm, from Friday 3 February to 30 March – excluding 17 Feb
Bedales Sports Hall
U9s 6.30pm to 7.30pm starting Friday 13 January, running through to 30 March – excluding 17 February
U11s 7.30pm to 8.30pm from 13 Jan to 30 March – excluding 17 Feb
U13/U15 Boys 8.30pm to 9.30pm from 13 Jan to 30 March – excluding 17 Feb
Sundays
U17s/Seniors 5.00pm to 7.00pm at Bedales, from 22 January to 1st April – excluding 19 Feb

Juts to remind you that having retained our Focus Club Status we have continued to invest in increasing the number of qualified coaches this winter, with a further 6 parents/older colts attending the ECB coaching courses run by Hampshire Cricket Board, and we now have our strongest coaching line up to date. The lead coaches at each age group will be as follows:-

U7 Daniel Amis

U9 James Stratford Tuke

U11 Kevan Tate

U13 Paddy May

U15 Dave Squires

U17 Phil Newman

Girls Chris Russell
and we’ll finalise the exact line up of assistant coaches working with them shortly. We will also have senior, experienced coaches available to assist where required, and provide specialist batting and bowling coaching as appropriate.

Membership Process

As we have already advised, for the first time in six years, we have increased membership fees. By prudent budgeting and tight controls on costs, we have managed to keep these to £10 in total for winter and summer, and are offering a discount of £5 for prompt payment in full.

In addition, in order to allow the coaches to concentrate on coaching and reduce the administrative burden on them and for insurance purposes, we have changed the membership process this year, and require membership forms and payments to be made before the coaching can be provided. The application form is attached, and can be returned to either our Treasurer Tim Boulton, whose details are on the application form, or myself at 3 Hanger Way, Petersfield, Hants, GU31 4QE. If you would like to make payment directly from your bank account, please contact Tim on timboulton@ntlworld.com and he will send you the details.

Naturally, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks to those of you that have passed on the details to your friends, and please continue to do so.

Finally, on behalf of Petersfield Cricket club we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you in 2012!

Petersfield CC blog

http://petersfieldcc.sporthampshire.org:80//Default.aspx?pg=7f17b465-eab4-4030-8eb3-e0c5386ae769&detail=8aac00b3-c76a-4510-af56-5dd3382a126b#a2c715b1-2043-486e-99ba-7d67f96f8c35

28/12/2011

Petersfield CC Have their own blog site where you can keep up to speed with what is going on in the club in addition to the news on the web site.
For the players it is recognition of their achievements during the season and provides them with an opportunity to practice with players from other clubs and gain some more experience.
We were well looked after and guess of honour was the Deputy Town Mayor, Bill Organ.

Nearly 150 colts and their families heard how the club is making excellent progress on all fronts which is leading to players enjoying their cricket and also enjoying some success. They celebrated the achievements of all the players and Bill Organ of Petersfield Town Council and ex player of the club handed out the awards. The club has been very well supported by the Council thanks to the funding provided for the grounds and facilities at The Heath.

This year the club became one of the Hampshire Cricket Board’s Focus Clubs which means that it has a role in facilitating the collaboration of schools, community groups and businesses towards the supporting an playing of cricket in the area. The colts section has increase to 135 players during the season and this has been supported by 4 more coaches and parent volunteers. The club have also started a girl’s section thanks to the efforts of Chris Russell and are planning to grow this to cover the U11s, U13s and U15 girls in 2011.

Club Captain Andy Salmon said “Our aim this year in the colts was to focus on providing quality coaching to all our players at all levels to improve their play and as you have heard this evening they have all exceeded our expectations and I am sure you will agree that we have a cricket club that the community can be proud of”

Due to the popularity of the U9s and U11s the club will be running two teams for the boys at each of these age groups in 2011 and are hoping to support 8 more coaches through the winter as they take their coaching courses. The club particularly thanked the efforts of Mark and Sadie Friend for all their efforts in helping with the colts’ section and liaison with the schools and all the coaches and managers who have put in a huge effort throughout the year.

As ever all this could not have been achieved without a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes. The social committee led by Lisbeth Thomas and Angela Hiscock had arranged all the events throughout the year and had raised an amazing £3,327. Dee Salmon had continued her excellent woek in raising money through grants and hand achieved a total of £6,616 in 2010 for improvement projects such as a new scoreboard, training equipment, replacement of the artificial pitch at Penns Place and improvements to the Heath pavilion. The club recognised the efforts of the grounds team in providing excellent strips to play on. This included John Sutherland, the head groundsman and Tim Boulton and Dan Godman who have cut Penns Place outfield throughout the season.

The 1st XI under the captaincy of Ash Spencer finished the season with an excellent run of success and finished in 6th place in Regional Division 1 of the Hampshire Cricket league just missing out on promotion. Ash Spencer was delighted at the progress that the team had made during the season and talked about how the team had exceeded expectations in doing more than just consolidating their position in the league. He said that they had the best bowling attack in the league and probably even 2 leagues higher. This young attack had a great deal more potential.

The 2nd XI under the captaincy of Andy Clarke finished champions of Regional Division 4 League. Andy Clarke put the success down to a combination of excellent young players coming through combined with the experience of the senior more experienced players. Although it was clear that the club had turned a corner with the senior teams, this league win was a tangible marker that the club’s senior teams were on the up.

The 3rd XI under Nick Blakstad has won 5 games and have started to build a good team. The Sunday XI under Marcus Sampson team has been a great success in attracting older players back into cricket again. The club were pleased that 10 senior players had been attracted back to cricket again through the club.

Petersfield CC Girls' Round Up for 2010

http://petersfieldcc.sporthampshire.org:80//Default.aspx?pg=7f17b465-eab4-4030-8eb3-e0c5386ae769&detail=d04ef469-eeea-4743-8248-8d439b91ceff#a2c715b1-2043-486e-99ba-7d67f96f8c35

16/09/2010

The starting of a girls’ squad this season from the Hampshire Cricket Board Club Development Programme has been a tremendous success. The club has 15 girls between the ages of 9 and 15 and played 6 games and two tournaments throughout the season thus providing 15 competitive games in addition to the 21 coaching sessions. The team has been managed and coached by Chris Russell with the help of Claire Allen from The Petersfield School. The girls finished the season winning the plate final easily against Andover at the Basingstoke Festival bringing home a trophy for the cabinet in the process. Next year the club is hoping to work even closer with TPS and aspire to providing three girls’ teams at U11, U13 and U15 age groups.

Nearly 25 U7s turn up regularly to the coaching provided by the younger players in the club. The talent being developed in this age group shows a lot of promise for the future. The coaching efforts over the past few years are really starting to bear fruit. The U9s, coached and managed by Kevan Tate, finished second in their league and have tremendous strength in depth within the squad. They won the Gosport festival in July beating Hambledon, Portsmouth and Locksheath which shows the great progress that they are making. The U11s managed and coached by Paddy May with the help of Matt Salmon and Don Crawford also finished second in their league. With some of their players away on County and District duty, they have also had to demonstrate a strength in depth in their squad. Many of the U13s were new to cricket and although they haven’t won games they have showed improvement in every game they have played under the guidance of manager Richard Thomas and coach Marcus Sampson. They have all learnt a great deal and they came within a few inches of winning their last game. The U15s, who have been managed and coached by Mark Friend and Phil Newman completed the season unbeaten and won their league. This is result of a steady improvement over the years and some boys who have turned into talented cricketers. The U17s reached the Quarter Final of the Hampshire Cup by beating Liphook in a thrilling match but were playing a year above themselves in the league but hopes are high for next season.
