Petersfield Cricket Club Achieve Clubmark Accreditation
Petersfield Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Hampshire Cricket Board
has awarded them Clubmark accreditation. Greg Stewart of HCB wrote
“I have confirmed with the English Cricket Board that Petersfield
Cricket Club have now achieved ECB Clubmark Accreditation and would like to
offer my congratulations to everyone at the club who has been involved in
achieving this prestigious accreditation.
I was really impressed with everything that is going on at Petersfield and the
Clubmark File was exemplary.”
The accreditation is thanks to the dedicated coaches and volunteers who have put
an enormous amount of time into the club and particular praise goes to the
efforts of Dee Salmon who put the Clubmark File together. This effort is now
starting to be reflected in the results on the pitch at the colt’s level the
club have enjoyed success at every level. Petersfield CC run colts’ teams at U9,
U11, U13, U15 and U17 plus a development squad of U7s.
By registering to work towards ECB
Clubmark, Petersfield joins a growing number of cricket clubs across
England
and Wales
that are prioritising junior development, creating a benchmark for high quality
community club cricket. It is expected that clubs who achieve the ECB Clubmark
will be recognised and rewarded for their hard work and commitment to club
cricket in England and Wales.
Clubmark is the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme for
clubs with junior sections. It is built around a set of core criteria which
ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and
adopted minimum operating standards.
The
benefits to the club and community are that it:
- Gives parents confidence when
choosing a club for their children
- Stimulates a culture which
boosts morale of players and ensures that volunteers are recognised for their
contributions
- Helps in obtaining funding as
many organisations require that applicants are accredited
- Entitles clubs to receive help
to develop the skills of coaches which leads to improved player performance.
Parents can be sure that appropriately qualified coaches are deployed
- Demonstrates that a club has
child friendly organised systems and structures showing that they run
efficiently and effectively and guaranteeing quality
The
club is always looking for more volunteers to help with the many jobs that need
doing from administration, fund raising, grounds work, coaching, social events,
managing teams, umpiring and scoring. If people interested in helping out would
like more information then they can look at the club web site
http://www.petersfieldcc.sporthampshire.org/volunteering.aspx or contact Dee
Salmon on 01730 260094
If
new senior or colts’ players are interested in joining then they can contact

The
club is now working towards being a Focus Club which will identify them as a key
deliverer within the Hampshire County Cricket Board Strategic Plan.
