Aiming to be a Club that the Community can be Proud of
Petersfield Win club of the year in EHDC sports awards
On a damp evening in Petersfield the mood was lifted tremendously for
those who attended the award ceremony, as Petersfield Cricket Club walked away
having won the Club of the year for 2011. This is following a very successful
year for the club where the 1st and 2nd teams won promotion and the 3 rd's
consolidated their league position. The club has also expanded their colts
sections and is thriving and looking forward to more success in 2012. More on
this story to follow in the next few days ........
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved Focus Club status. Details of
what this means can be found in the "About Petersfield CC" section of the web
site.
Petersfield CC is founded on long standing members, a beautiful location and a
long history dating back to 1742. It's key requirements are a friendly and
welcoming environment for all the family, willing volunteers, well maintained
grounds and facilities and sound finances. This enables the club to deliver
colts' cricket, community participation and senior men's league and Sunday
cricket. \this is reinforced by our achievement of Clubmark accreditation and
becoming a Focus Club.
Our plans one day are to create a colts' academy, ladies cricket, cricket for
the disabled and to have our senior team back in the Southern Premier League.
This will all help create a cricket club that the community can be proud of and
a club that can be sustained for the future.
We have had a very successful 2011 season
and achieved our goals.
Our 1st XI was promoted from RD1N to County 4N of the Hampshire League and
finished runners up. Our 2nd XI were promoted for the second year running to RD2NE.
Our U17s reached the semi finals of the County Cup. Our girls' section had a
successful second season and they were successful
in winning the Basingstoke Plate competition. We now have an U11 and U13 girls'
team playing hardball and softball cricket. Our U9s, U11s and U15s all play in
the A Division of the SEHCA. Our Indoor team were promoted from Division 4 in
their first year of playing. Our midweek team started playing in the Ashurst
League and we started a Sunday 2nd XI.
Next year our plans are to consolidate our excellent position and continue to
develop our colts into senior cricket. We now have three evenly spaced teams
with two divisions between them so there will be excellent progression
opportunities for those young players who wish to develop to their full
potential.
If you are interested in joining you can start to join now by following the instructions in our

In order to help our future plans we are still looking for volunteers. Many
thanks to all those who have volunteered for roles in the club over the past few
months. One of the members suggested that to make volunteering less intimidating
it is a good idea for any role to be no more than 2 years unless someone is keen
to continue and also for any volunteer not to have to find their own
replacement. This is a great idea and something that we will stick to which
hopefully will mean there are more willing volunteers.
